Following in the Footsteps of Māori Personal Discovery
An essay for a Creative Non-Fiction paper I took last year at university, discussing feelings of doubt around my creative work, intergenerational trauma, and my voice as a Māori wahine.
Hello, my paid subs! Before we start off, I am working on a new, lengthy original piece for y’all, but it’s taking longer than I thought. So, I thought I’d pull out something from the archives to tide you over. In saying that, I truly do love this essay, and re-reading it is helping me to re-reflect on my own work in 2022. I hope it resonates with you, ESPECIALLY if you’re a fellow Māori creative. If not, I hope you take something valuable away from it anyway.
